Founder - Robin Lowitz, MD

The Clinic's founder and Medical Director, Dr. Robin Lowitz, drew inspiration from two years spent as a volunteer at the Berkeley Free Clinic, in Berkeley, CA. Following medical training at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio and in family medicine at UCSF-San Francisco General Hospital, Dr. Lowitz worked at the St. Stephen's Free Clinic/La Clínica in Sebastopol, CA, the Catholic Charities Free Clinic in Santa Rosa, CA, and the San Francisco Free Clinic in San Francisco. She came to believe that, based on Jewish traditions of social justice and communal responsibility for the sick, it was time for the Jewish community to launch a Free Clinic and her tireless efforts have been well recognized.  Dr. Lowtiz continues to volunteer at the Clinic, most recently as part the JCFC’s Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Clinic, now under the direction of local acupuncturist Carina Wagner.
